Primark has launched its first ever range of jeans made from 100% sustainable cotton. Produced in three different washes (indigo, black and light blue), the women’s skinny jeans will be sold in stores across all markets, at a cost of £13/€17. Primark’s customers are looking for amazing fashion at an affordable price, and this range is no different.

Primark expands Sustainable Cotton Programme into second major sourcing country

One year on from the launch of its first range of cotton products using sustainable cotton grown by independent farmers in Gujarat, Northern India, Primark is expanding its Sustainable Cotton Programme into Pakistan, one of the key sourcing countries for cotton.

Primark has become a Participant in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular initiative, which is aiming to radically redesign the fashion industry by creating a circular economy for fashion around the world. This represents one part of Primark’s environmental sustainability programme which it is undertaking to reduce its impact on the environment.

Paul Lister, responsible for Primark’s Ethical Trade and Environmental Sustainability Team, said: “Five years on from the Rana Plaza building collapse in Bangladesh, Primark continues to support those who were affected and over the period has contributed a total of over $14 million in aid and compensation. In June 2017 Primark signed the 2018 Transition Accord, reaffirming Primark’s commitment to collaborate with other brands, factory owners, NGOs, trade unions and the Government of Bangladesh to bring about sustainable positive change in the Bangladeshi garment industry.”
